There is more within you than the world can see.
A guided practice of self-awareness, reflection, and intentional action, for building a life aligned with who you truly are, not who your circumstances taught you to be.
We believe there is more within every person than what the world can see.
Beyond the circumstances that shaped us.
Beyond the environments we grew up in.
Beyond the doubts, fears, and limitations we have carried.
There is a deeper identity waiting to be discovered. Growth begins with understanding who you truly are. As you peel back the layers, you don't become someone else; you become the person you were always capable of becoming.
Every experience, challenge, and obstacle has the ability to shape you, not define you. Through self-awareness, reflection, and intentional action, you peel back the layers that have influenced who you are, uncovering the strengths, values, and potential that have always existed within you.
Your past may be part of your story, but it does not have to determine your future. Your environment may shape your beginning, but it does not define your destination. Your potential is greater than your current perception.
Built for two kinds of people.
People whose identity was built on performance
Athletes facing injury or retirement, professionals after a layoff or big transition: anyone who built their sense of self around what they do, and is now facing the question underneath it: who am I beyond that?
High performers who've put in the work
And still catch themselves reacting the same old way under pressure. They don't need convincing that change is possible. They need the gap closed between what they know and what they actually do.
Within The Being is a personal development and mentoring practice, not a substitute for therapy or clinical mental health treatment. If you're navigating a mental health crisis, please reach out to a licensed professional or local crisis service.
Within The Being is a journey of discovery, development, and becoming.
Not a program to complete, but a practice to grow into: three movements that build on each other, at your pace.
Look beneath the layers.
We start by examining the circumstances, environments, and inherited doubts that have quietly shaped how you see yourself, separating what happened to you from who you actually are.
Build the practice.
Self-awareness, reflection, and intentional action become daily disciplines: not abstract ideas, but tools you use to close the gap between how you live and what you value.
Live it forward.
With a clearer identity and an expanded sense of what's possible, you begin building a life, in your relationships, your work and your purpose, that is actually aligned with who you are and who you are capable of becoming.
Three disciplines, practiced together.
Each one alone is useful. Together, they're how the layers come off.
Self-Awareness
Seeing yourself clearly (your patterns, your values, your inherited beliefs) before trying to change anything.
Reflection
Making sense of experience instead of just moving through it, so every challenge becomes information, not just noise.
Intentional Action
Turning insight into small, deliberate moves: the only thing that actually closes the distance between here and who you're becoming.
About us
My name is Mal, founder of Within The Being.
I grew up as what I like to call a delusional optimist. From as early as I can remember, my mother would always tell me, "You can do it." No matter how unrealistic the dream seemed or how difficult the challenge was, she believed in me, and eventually, I believed in myself.
As a kid, I'd spend hours looking through gaming, clothing, car, and travel magazines, imagining those experiences as part of my future. I didn't just dream about them; I genuinely believed they were possible. Months or years later, many of those visions became reality.
Our beliefs influence our actions, and our actions shape the life we create.
At 15 years old, I moved to the United States to pursue a dream of one day becoming a professional basketball player. It was a journey built on ambition, sacrifice, and an unwavering belief that anything was possible.
But life had different plans. Recurring shoulder injuries eventually forced me away from the game I loved. Losing basketball meant losing the identity I had built for myself. I was forced to confront a question many people eventually face:
Who am I beyond what I do?
At 19 years old, I found myself homeless, sleeping in my car, couch surfing and staying with friends who welcomed me in. It was one of the most challenging seasons of my life. But within that adversity, I discovered something that would change the direction of my life: the power of self-development. I went from asking myself "why is this happening to me" to "what is this teaching me."
During that period, I developed a deep love for reading and understanding the human mind. I immersed myself in books such as Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself by Dr. Joe Dispenza, Can't Hurt Me by David Goggins, The Power of Your Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy, and many others.
Transformation doesn't happen by changing who we are on the outside; it begins by understanding who we are within.
Years later, basketball found me again, but this time, not as a player. It returned as a pathway to serve others through coaching and mentorship. Over the past four years, I've had the privilege of working with hundreds of athletes, helping them develop not only their skills on the court but, more importantly, their mindset, character, and understanding of themselves.
I realised that the greatest transformations don't begin with improving performance. They begin with understanding the person behind the performance. That realisation is why I created Within The Being.
One-on-one guidance, grounded in a simple belief.
Within The Being is a personal mentoring practice built around the idea that you already carry more strength, clarity, and potential than your circumstances have let you see. The work isn't about adding a new identity; it's about clearing away what's been covering the one you already have.
It's especially suited to people whose identity was built on performance (athletes, high-achievers, and professionals in transition) and to anyone who already believes more is possible but hasn't yet built the tools to act on it.
Sessions are conversational, reflective, and practical: part philosophy, part coaching, always personal. No two journeys look the same, because no two people are carrying the same layers.
- Private one-on-one mentoring sessions, virtual or on call
- A framework rooted in self-awareness, reflection, and action, not quick fixes
- A space to be honest about where you are, without judgment about how you got there
The work is within. So is the next step.
